Admission FAQ

  • Can I drop by at any time for a school tour?

To provide every family with a personalized experience, school visits are scheduled by appointment. We invite you to schedule a tour to experience our classrooms, meet our team, and learn more about our Montessori programs.

  • Who should attend the school tour?

We encourage both parents or guardians to attend whenever possible. Initial tours and classroom observations are designed for adults so parents can fully experience the prepared environment, observe children at work, and ask questions. Your child will have an opportunity to visit at a later stage in the admissions process.

  • Is there a waiting list?

Some of our programs fill quickly and may maintain a waiting pool. We encourage families to schedule a tour and submit an application as early as possible. If a space is unavailable, we'll gladly discuss anticipated openings and future enrollment opportunities.

  • How far in advance may I submit an application?

We encourage families to begin the admissions process as early as possible. Applications are accepted throughout the year as space allows, and many families begin exploring enrollment several months in advance.

  • May I request a specific classroom/teacher?

Families are welcome to share classroom or teacher preferences. While we carefully consider each request whenever possible, placements are made thoughtfully based on each child's developmental needs, classroom balance, and the overall composition of the Montessori community.

  • What are the factors that determine my child’s placement?

Classroom placement is based on several factors, including your child's age, developmental readiness, available openings, classroom balance, and maintaining healthy multi-age Montessori communities. Our goal is always to create learning environments where every child can thrive.

  • Is there a sibling discount?

Yes. We offer a sibling discount for families with more than one child enrolled at Wading River Montessori School at the same time. Current discount details are provided with our Cost of Enrollment information and Enrollment Contract, and we're happy to review them with you during the admissions process.

  • How much time do children spend outdoors?

Outdoor learning is an important part of the Wading River Montessori experience. Whenever possible, children spend time outdoors exploring, observing, caring for nature, and extending their classroom learning beyond the walls of the school. Guided by Dr. Maria Montessori's belief that nature is one of a child's greatest teachers, we intentionally create opportunities for meaningful outdoor experiences throughout the year.
